“Who hesitates to
make a decision, shows that it is not assured and therefore can not lead others
successfully”
NAPOLEON HILL (American writer 10.26.1883 / 08.11.1970)
He who hesitates to make a decision in the right moment expresses a
negative state. A state of oscillation between two extremity or two trends that
seem to him the same value. He eventually will lead to choose a direction but
after hesitation. It is clear that Mr. Hill criticizes hesitation; he wants the
individual to be firm and sharp in his decisions. Firmness is possible and
benefic in return hesitation is harmful. But we must distinguish the hesitation
which Mr. Hill talks about from the hesitation that relates to deliberation.
We must distinguish this unhealthy hesitation from the short hesitation imposed
by the research and which protects us from error .The deliberation is a
positive activity that focuses on the study of the consequences of a decision
contrary at the long and unhealthy hesitation that is the mark of failure in
the attainment of sharp motives which push us to a decision with a quiet mind.
We must therefore conclude that hesitation that lasts is a bad situation; it
looks like an abyss that drowns us.
What are the consequences of a long hesitation?
Who hesitates to make a decision can not
ultimately lead others successfully because how someone who has not been able
to govern himself, can govern others?
Finally, we must point out that if the hesitation is a bad situation, the
precipitation is bad too. If we must not take a decision without deliberation
or premeditation, we must not also go into action without thinking well under
the pretext of saving time.
