5. "The
difficulties should lead to action, not discouragement. The spirit of man is
strengthened by the conflict "
William Ellery Chaning (1780*1842)
americain theologian
The difficulties are generally
considered in two ways. Some see that the difficulties are insurmountable obstacle,
like a dam that cuts our way, others see them as an opportunity that pushes the
mind to invent solutions. So they push us forward. The author approves the
second view .A truly happy life is not a monotonous and
stagnant life without difficulties. the author's justification is: "the
spirit of man is strengthened by the conflict." Conflict is a warning and
stimulation simultaneously. The difficulties put the
spirit in trouble in a situation unacceptable and disconcerting
but it encourage him in the same time to
overcome them.
Critique: It should be noted that there
are two kinds of difficulties. A genre that pushes the mind to seek solutions
as the scientific, philosophical ... but there are other difficulties which
terminates any overflow activity or improvement such as poverty, a primitive
social background, disability. Rare those who arrive to overcome such difficulties. The difficulties for the
man are listed in order.
They begin with the difficulty of making a few simple gestures until the impossibility of realization of
huge projects.
