"We are as curious as we are intellectuals".
We generally believe that curiosity belongs
exclusively to the ignorant. It is a belief based on the principle that it is
the needy who asks what is missing. And because the ignorant lack of knowledge,
he seeks it. But what is lacking in those who believe in this principle is that
the needy seek what he lacks only when he is aware of it. As a result, it is
assumed that the curious only asks for instruction when he is aware of his
ignorance. But this consciousness is only reached by reaching a decent limit of
knowledge. We ask for explanations only about the topics on which we have some
ideas. Every knowledge sends shadows and asks more questions than answers. This
means that knowledge does not eliminate ignorance. It limits it on one side
only to extend it on the other.
